iPhone 17 Pro models expected to support Wi-Fi 7
The Wi-Fi Alliance consortium officially launched the new Wi-Fi 7 standard this week. Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is reporting that Apple is planning to adopt Wi-Fi 7 support on the iPhone as soon as next year.
Wi-Fi 7 support would allow iPhone 17 Pro models to send and receive data over the 24GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands simultaneously with a maximum throughput of 40Gbps. This would be a significant improvement over the current Wi-Fi 6E standard, which supports a maximum throughput of 9.6Gbps.
In addition to faster speeds, Wi-Fi 7 also offers several other advantages, including reduced latency, improved security, and increased capacity. This makes it ideal for use in applications such as gaming, streaming, and video conferencing.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 17 Pro models in September 2023. It is unclear whether the standard iPhone 17 models will also support Wi-Fi 7.
