Camille Cottin talks playing Matt Damon's lover in Stillwater

Cottin's role as Virginie in the new film Stillwater is based on a true story.

Camille Cottin has revealed that she won her role in Stillwater after just one audition.

The French actress stars opposite Matt Damon in the new film, which is based on the true story of an American oil worker who travels to France to visit his daughter, who is in prison for a murder she says she didn't commit.

Cottin plays Virginie, a French woman who becomes involved with Damon's character, Bill Baker.

"I auditioned for the role and I was very lucky to get it," Cottin told us. "I'm really happy with the film and I think it's a really important story."

Stillwater is out in cinemas now.
